11 Jan Springdale Preparatory School Robotics Programs Reach Tournament Quarterfinals
(New Windsor, MD) – On December 15, the Cyber Lions, Springdale Preparatory School competitive VEX robotics teams, placed in the quarterfinals of Jingle Bots, a robotics tournament held at Great Valley Middle School in Malvern, Pennsylvania, over the winter break.
Representing the high school, Nic Porter placed 16th out of 24 teams. The middle school team of Nick Wolfe, Gavin Eaves and Tyler DiStefano finished 10th out of 24 teams and served as an alliance captain for the elimination rounds. The middle school team notched a score of 12 points for the skills competition, placing them fourth in the state of Maryland for robotics programs.
“I’m proud of our students for their diligence, dedication and creativity,” says Dave Magaha, coach of the robotics program for Springdale Preparatory School. “Their hard work and dedication to robotics is truly paying off.”
This is the first year of competition for Springdale’s robotics program and just the second competition. They improved over 15th and 16th place finishes in the Holy Ghost Prep School Turning Point qualifier earlier in the year, during which they failed to reach the elimination rounds.
