07 May Orlando Merrick Signs College Commitment Letter
Springdale Preparatory School, the independent boarding and day school located in New Windsor, Carroll County, Maryland, announces the signing of senior Orlando Merrick to Paris Junior College on a full basketball scholarship.
Merrick, a native of Atlanta, Georgia, will head to Paris, Texas, in late August for the 2019-2020 academic year. He was joined by his Springdale Preparatory School teammates as well as the entire student body for the official announcement on Monday. Merrick is the first Springdale Lion to receive a scholarship to attend college following graduation.
“We are proud of our athletes who will leave Springdale Preparatory School and compete at the intercollegiate level,” says Tyrone Johnson, head basketball coach and dean of students at Springdale Preparatory School. “We are excited to see Orlando rewarded for his hard work and dedication to basketball as well as his studies here at Springdale Preparatory School. We look forward to following his success as he represents Springdale Preparatory School during his collegiate career.”
