What Are the Requirements of an IB Program in Reisterstown, MD?

The IB Program employs a point system instead of a traditional grading system. When students complete essays and exams, they receive points in lieu of A’s, B’s, C’s and so on. Marks are given using the IB’s 1-7 scale, with 7 being the topmost level of achievement and 1 being the lowest. In order to receive an IB diploma, students need to obtain a minimum of 24 points. They can, however, earn as much as 45.

Students must take three IB core courses and one course from each of the six subject groups during this two-year program.

 

What Does the IB Core Curriculum Consist Of?

The IB Program includes three core elements that are designed to prepare students for the real-world challenges they’ll soon face. These courses include:

Additionally, the six subject groups are as follows:

  2. Language B (Spanish ab initio)
  3. Individuals and Societies (History of the Americas, Economics, and Psychology)
  4. Experimental Sciences (Biology, Chemistry, ESS, and Sport, Exercise & Health Science)
  5. Mathematics (Applications & Interpretations)
  6. The Arts (Visual Arts, Music Theory)

Students must take one course from each of the six groups. However, they can opt to take an additional course from groups 1-5 in lieu of a group 6 course.
