How Does the IB Program Differ from Traditional Education?

In an IB Program, alphabetical grades are not used to measure a student’s success. Instead, they earn points for completing assessments, essays and exams. Points are distributed using the IB’s 1-7 scale, with 7 being the maximum level of performance. In order to graduate with an IB diploma, students need at least 24 points. However, it is possible to earn up to 45 points.

During their IB program, students are required to take three core curriculum classes (Theory of Knowledge, Extended Essay and Community, Action, and Service) and one course from each of the six subject sections (Language A, Language B, Individuals and Societies, Experimental Sciences, Mathematics and The Arts).

“At Springdale, my children are very different, and both get individual attention. My son needs one on one attention, and he excels in a lot of areas that aren’t traditional. The staff helps him with his learning style. My daughter is really smart, and oftentimes she can get bored in the classroom. At Springdale, they pull her aside and give her extra activities to challenge her. As for the community, we love it here.
